How to be with a person in crisis [EN/DA]
Unfortunately we have to cancel this event. If you were interested, and did not have a ticket, but would like to attend another time, write a mail to email@example.com, and we’ll notify you when there is a new course!
Have you been in a situation where a friend, colleague or stranger was experiencing a crisis – like a panic attack, a thoroughly broken heart or a drug related situation?
In this whole-day workshop we will introduce you to theory about what happens in our minds when in crisis and how we can help and guide others in their experiences. This includes practicing sitting with somebody in crisis, through a method called forum theatre.
You do not need to have any experience beforehand to attend this workshop. Minimum age is 15 years.
The method of forum theatre has been used for decades to experience new situations and try out how to respond to them. In this workshop, we will have a professional actor to act as in a crisis situation, and the participants can enter the role of a caregiver/sitter, and later as another person in crisis. Throughout the forum theatre part, anyone can timeout and pause, check-in or ask questions.
The theory that is brought in the first part of the workshop is inspired by Circling (Surrendered Leadership), mentalisation based treatment, narrative therapy and the Zendo Project – Creating Communities of Compassionate Care.
Your facilitators will be Anežka Marie Sokol and Einar Magnús Boson. Both are trained in Circling from Circling Europe and have 5+ years of experience in psychological first aid at festivals and other places. Anežka has been teaching and mentoring kids from 5 years of age up to adults the last 10 years, and has a background in biochemistry and mindfulness. Einar has been teaching adults and in high schools and has recently taken a two year body work education to deepen his work with helping people in trauma recovery. Both do their work from the perspective that most difficult experiences can be turned into learning experiences that open opportunities to feel more free and alive afterwards.
Morten Skovgaard Andersen will act in the forum theatre part. He has studied physical theatre at The Commedia School and is also certified in Circling.
The course part will be presented in English, but questions are welcome in Danish and forum theater will be in English/Danish. All facilitators are fluent in Danish and English.
