The Forum was developed in 1978 in the German intentional community ZEGG and has since than practiced and even further developed in countless communities worldwide. It is is a ritualized form of transparent communication between individuals and groups. The Forum is often used to create transparency in relationships, to reduce social tensions and to create bonding. Its playful and ritualized form makes it easier to share thoughts and feelings that usually are hidden, thus strengthening social contacts. The idea is that social systems and individuals profit from supportive feedback.
As described on the website of the ZEGG/community:
ZEGG-Forum is a deep and intimate process for groups with up to 50 participants. The aim is to reveal whatever is authentic, alive and true. It creates a space of trust and openness between people. Participants experience the freedom and permission to be who they are and allow others to witness themselves. In many social circumstances “being observed through the eyes of the other becomes the death of my possibilities”. The Forum overcomes this difficulty. In this supportive environment the eyes of the others cease to be the death of my possibilities and serve as generators for healing, growth and empowerment. I can experience that I can be fully protected whilst exposing my deep vulnerability, that my greatest protection is my greatest opening as I am accepted and supported by others.
Forum creates greater mutual understanding through contacting this inner and outer journey. On this journey we will of course also meet our encapsulated pains in the shadow. If we stay present we will be able to feel the feelings involved and move on strengthened.
About the facilitators
Mareike und Heinz invite you for our first Forum at Relational Spaces. Both are not trained in facilitating this format but share a strong interest in it, and we follow the clear structure of it. Heinz has also participated in a couple of Forum‘s in Switzerland, knows the basics how it works, and both Mareike and him are experienced in holding group processes.
We hope you want to join us. We want to make this a monthly practice as it might strengthen our community, help creating trust and create a feeling of being seen in your unique humanness.
We follow government regulations and recommendations around COVID-19 and do our best not to further the spread of the virus. We ask you to do the same:
- Please do not show up to events if you have symptoms of covid-19.
- You are required to have a valid corona-pass to participate in our events (for most people this means being vaccinated or being tested within 72 hours of the workshop you are going to). Our facilitators will check this on arrival.
- There is a test center in Fælledparken, close to Relational Spaces, where it is possible to be quick tested.
