Playfight Club – Open men’s group
The Playfight Club is an exploration of masculinity in all it’s spectrum, the wonders and challenges of being alive in a male body. We train strength and sensitivity through exercises and playful fighting, and we talk together about our experiences in life. Our vision is to create a safe space for men to connect, play, share their feelings and get support.
We meet monthly 18.00 – 21.00:
- August 24th (Tuesday),
- September 21th (Tuesday),
- October 21st (Thursday),
- November 11th (Thursday),
- December 9th (Thursday)
STRENGTH THROUGH SENSITIVITY
For us, sensitivity is a foundational masculine virtue and a misunderstood one. Sensitivity is often mistaken for weakness, brittleness or hesitancy, but as we see it, it is more related to perceptivity and embodied discernment. Hardened steel that cannot deform shatters with a strike. Springy steel that yields prevails. Embodied sensitivity is also experienced as being present in your body, something very appreciated by women.
“I find it very attractive when men are present in their hands. It makes me feel seen and valued”
In this open men’s group, we will train our faculties and bodies, and we will get to know ourselves and each other through playfighting. We will also do some different relational exercises and talk about challenges in our lives together.
The fights will be facilitated and ritualized. There are no winners in the fights, only explorers.
At Playfight Club you will both get to playfight different partners and spectate others playfighting.
Philia (/ˈfɪliə/; Ancient Greek: φιλία), often translated “brotherly love”, is one of the four ancient Greek words for love: philia, storge, agape and eros. We see the play fighting we do as a thing of beauty and an expression of love.
We see the Play Fight Club as a praxis – something that we can return to and do again and again both to practice physical abilities and to hone our sensitivities.
ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
Peter and Einar are both trained ManuVision body therapists as well as circling facilitators and have some experience with various forms of martial art. We ourselves very much enjoy the sensation of being able to “fight” in a non-hostile environment and want that to be the centerpoint of our meetings. We will introduce you to some central concepts around “fighting for pleasure and enjoyment” inspired by wrestling, jiu-jitsu, contact improv and tai chi and we will facilitate a space where you feel safe to be physical with other men.
Tickets are 220 kr, there are 12 tickets.
You can pay for the whole semester (5 times) and then it’s only 700 kr.
